Semence Douce was born from Bertrand Duchaufour's admiration for the tulip, and especially from Robert Mapplethorpe's evocative photographs, which immortalized this flower in a sensual, almost lifelike pose. In traditional perfumery, the tulip is considered mute, incapable of being transformed into perfume: this is why Duchaufour decided to take up the challenge and create a fragrance capable of giving voice to its essence.
The Maureen tulip, with its white petals and long stems, becomes the muse of a delicate and deeply sensorial composition. During the creative process, the perfumer discovers that the flower releases a subtle note reminiscent of the human seed, a symbol of origin, life, and birth. Thus, a soft and milky fragrance is born, constructed from raw materials that evoke the flower's creamy, velvety texture.
