Memoir Woman, begins with a spicy fusion of absinthe to echo the magical aura of the Black Swan, a transformation emphasized by decomposing the tuberose note to the heart and then recomposing it into a white floral harmony with Lisylang and Orange Blossom. In Memoir Woman, he and she are the Black Swan rolled into one. They are each other's memories. Inspired by the philosophy of the double, I wanted to create a haunting fragrance that goes beyond the restriction of male and female genders and is hypnotic and bewitching without suggestions of sexual desire. I articulated this by augmenting the dark wood harmony with cashmeran, sandalwood and patchouli supported by an animalic harmony in the base to neutralize any gender difference.
