Ralf Schwieger once took part in a perfume competition that Frédéric Malle had organized for young perfumers. Frédéric tasted their perfumes one by one, blindfolded, until he came across Ralf's sketch of what would become Lipstick Rose, and Ralf was chosen to join Editions de Parfums.
Having spent his childhood in Germany exploring forests and absorbing all their unusual smells, Ralph is inclined to create perfumes with unexpected personalities. He describes his attitude to perfume creation as a game of two parts, the first intellectual or conceptual, and the second longer sensory research. His perfumes, accordingly, are both cerebral and intuitive.Top notes: Grapefruit; Violet
