Meander by Amouage is inspired by the Dhofar plateau. Meander explores the exhilarating feeling of happiness in a land of mist, lush green mountains and flowing streams. Drawing inspiration from the Sultanate’s southernmost governorate during the monsoon season (Khareef), Amouage has creatively translated the surreal mist using frankincense and smoky Vetiver, with rich green notes of cypriol and daffodil, while its caramel-colored mud has given rise to earthy notes of sandalwood, carrot heart and Orris root.
“Salalah encapsulates one of the most precious gems in the world of perfume. The finest quality of incense, Frankincense, which is harvested from Boswellia trees that grow in the rich soil in the middle of the desert. I chose to paint a contradiction between the lush green vegetal notes and the hot, dry desert sand: fog and smoke, real and surreal. Two different qualities of olibanum, oil and resinoid, provide the precious incense signature that the fragrance carries throughout its development. This character is enhanced by rich, earthy heart notes of carrot and orris root, smoky cypriol and Javanese vetiver. Creamy, sensual sandalwood envelops these powerful notes with sweet sophistication and a touch of daffodil evokes the unexpected lush nature of the earth.” -Mackenzie Reilly
