Portrait of a Lady - Frédéric Malle
Year of creation: 2010
Olfactory family: Floral, amber
Portait of a Lady contains probably the most generous dose of Turkish rose absolute combined with a heart of patchouli. Dominique Ropion created an amber rose built on a base of benzoin, cinnamon, sandalwood, musk, patchouli and incense. An evocative perfume of sensual beauty, which attracts people like a magnet. A modern classic.
Elegance personified. Consider her perfume a portrait of the wearer: the sound of her voice, her gaze, the way he plays cards. At the same time timeless and in resonance with today. An exuberant dose of Turkish rose: 400 flowers per 100ml bottle, no less. Below, a patchouli heart bed soaked in sandalwood and incense. An accord of cloves, blackcurrant and raspberry binds the scent together for a final brushstroke of character
Meitre: Dominique Ropion
"If a perfume is a portrait of the woman who wears it, here is one that reveals her inherent sophistication. "Frederic Malle
Dominique Ropion trained at the legendary Roure Bertrand Dupont laboratory in Grasse, before working with Jean-Louis Sieuzac, one of the greatest perfumery technicians.
Dominique Ropion is a daring perfectionist, a true inventor. The risks he runs are invariably accompanied by a relentless search for the exact olfactory balance and flawless composition. Perfumes are like great architectural feats: in the same way that a bridge, whose seemingly miraculous suspension of weight is actually a harnessing of conflicting forces, Dominique often balances excessive doses of powerful ingredients with more subtle and meticulously dosed chords, up to when the composition holds up by itself. A good perfume, he likes to say, must always appear evident
Top note: pink
Heart notes: black currant, raspberry, carnation flowers
Base notes: patchouli, sandalwood, incense
Vittoria Profumi's advice: a perfume that speaks of her innate refinement. Charm that emanates from the inside, boldly represented from the outside; an expressive portrait of modern grace.
